What should believers do until God takes the Church out?
Believers are to serve as ambassadors for Christ, representing Heaven in a foreign land, telling the lost world that reconciliation is accomplished. Until the Church is taken out, they are to be a dam in the river of iniquity and stand in the gap.
Les explains that believers are citizens of Heaven living in a foreign land, so they are ambassadors—representatives of a home government in a foreign country. Their citizenship is in Heaven, and they are to carry out the designs, hopes, and aspirations of their homeland, which is Christ. They are the extension of Heaven here on earth. Paul makes clear in Thessalonians that the true Church is like a dam in a river of iniquity; one day Christ will lift them out, and that river will flood the planet. Until then, believers are to be that dam and stand in the gap, as Ezekiel said to the Jews. They are to let the lost world know that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself and has committed to them the word of reconciliation.
