Why should Jesus' miracles have convinced people He was the Messiah?

Jesus' miracles served as divine credentials because no one but the Messiah, the Son of God Himself, could perform them. When John the Baptist questioned, Jesus pointed to the blind seeing, the dead raised, and the deaf hearing as proof of who He was, confirming He was indeed the Christ.

Les explains that although people could not comprehend it, they should have understood that no one but the Messiah, the Son of God Himself, could perform the miracles Jesus was performing. He recalls John the Baptist in prison sending his disciples to ask Jesus, “Are You the One, or do we look for another?” Jesus told them to go back and tell John what was happening: the blind receive their sight, the dead are being raised, and the deaf are getting their hearing back. That was to prove to John who He was. So all the way through the Gospels, Les teaches, this is the proof that He was indeed the Christ. Les then points to John 20:30–31, where John writes that many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in that book.
