To whom did Jesus say He was sent?
Jesus declared He was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. He stated this plainly, emphasizing that His mission was directed to Israel, not to Gentiles, because the covenants were made with Israel alone.
Les explains that when the Gentile woman pleaded with Jesus, He answered and said, 'I am not sent, but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.' Les emphasizes this is plain language and Jesus Himself said it. The reason given is covenants: there were no Gentiles in those covenants; it was Jew only. The disciples also understood she was a Gentile and that they had nothing to do with her. The woman was almost presuming upon something she had no right to presume, and her costly mistake was addressing Him as 'thou son of David.'
But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
