Who did Jesus tell the twelve disciples to go to when He first sent them out?

When He first sent out the Twelve, Jesus commanded them not to go into the way of the Gentiles or enter any Samaritan city, but to go only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. This directive limited their mission during His earthly ministry.

Les explains that when Christ began His earthly ministry, He commanded the twelve to go not into the way of a Gentile or any city of the Samaritan, but only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. He notes people have a hard time swallowing this. Les recalls a Bible class after dinner in an Israeli hotel where some tour-group members from Florida, who had not been with him all the way, became angry at the idea that Christ did not come to any but Jew; one fellow got red as a beet and asked whether Jesus had nothing to do with Gentiles. Les replied that the Book says He came only to the Jew, and when Israel rejected it, He would then turn to the Gentile. From Abraham’s call until well into Acts, it was Jew only, with some exceptions, a point Les never wants forgotten. They then returned to Acts 1:6, where the eleven asked if the kingdom would be restored to Israel at that time.
