What do all the other things in the Old Testament come out of?
All the other things of the Old Testament come out of the covenant God made with Israel. That covenant is the source from which the rest of the Old Testament unfolds, and Zacharias is still resting on it as the nation awaits the promised King.
Les explains that out of that covenant, all these other things of the Old Testament are going to be coming out. This is exactly what Zacharias is still resting on: the covenant that God made with Israel. By Zacharias’s time they are a nation of people, in the promised land, with their temple and priesthood, but they are looking for the King. The King is also called the Anointed One or the Messiah; the Greek word for the Messiah is the Christ. So Jesus Christ means Jesus the Messiah, and it is out of those Old Testament promises that He now comes.
