What was Abraham promised about the nation from his own loins?

Abraham was promised that a nation emerging from his own loins would, against all odds, survive and declare the name of the one God to the world. This promise included God making him a great nation, placing them in a land, and coming as Messiah to be their King.

Les explains that the promise to Abraham was that a nation from his own loins would survive against all odds and declare the name of the one God to the world. This is the whole scope of bringing Israel on the scene: God gave them the Abrahamic covenant, would make them a nation of people, put them in a geographical area of land, and one day He Himself would come in the person of the Messiah to be their King. Les also notes the covenant is written in future tense: God said, 'I will make of you a great nation, I will do this, and I will do that.'
