Why are some things kept secret in the Bible until now?

God sovereignly keeps certain truths unrevealed until His chosen time to disclose them. As the everlasting God, He has the capability to conceal secrets, then reveal them by revelation. The mystery of Christ given to Paul for Gentiles illustrates this: it was hidden before but made known when God determined.

Les explains that Scripture shows God sees fit to keep certain things totally unrevealed until it is time to reveal them. He connects this to the Hebrew term olam, describing the everlasting God as having the sovereign capability of keeping things secret until His time to reveal them. In Ephesians 3, Paul writes to Gentiles about the dispensation of the grace of God given to him. Les points out that this came by revelation—a revealing of something never revealed before—making known the mystery or secret of Christ. Previously no one else had ever had an inkling of it; it was hidden until God chose to disclose it through Paul.
