Who started all the pagan and mythological religions at the Tower of Babel?
Satan, the god of this world, instituted all pagan and mythological religions at the Tower of Babel under Nimrod. Every pagan or idolatrous religion had its beginnings there. By Abraham’s time, roughly two hundred years later, the then-known world was steeped in idolatry and mythology.
Les explains that the interval between Noah and Abraham was about 400 years, with the Tower of Babel in the middle. The human race, still of one language and basically one blood, gathered in the plains of Shinar in Mesopotamia, in the Euphrates River Valley, and built the Tower of Babel. There, under Nimrod, Satan—the god of this world—instituted all pagan and mythological religions. Les stresses that every pagan or idolatrous religion had its beginnings at the Tower of Babel. By Abraham, about 200 years after Babel and around 2000 B.C., the whole then-known human race was steeped in idolatry or mythology, including mythologies like the Venuses and Aphrodites. Out of that idolatrous race, God found one man who still had a spark of faith or the ability to believe.
