Why did God take away the Tree of Life after Genesis?

God removed the Tree of Life after Genesis so that fallen man could not have access to it and live eternally in sin. It passes off the scene until the end of Revelation, when it reappears in the New Earth during the eternal state.

Les explains that when he taught Genesis, he noted the Tree of Life would pass off the scene because man cannot have access to it, lest he live eternally. It is not mentioned again until Revelation 22, where in the eternal state on the New Earth, the river of water of life proceeds from the throne of God and the Lamb, and the Tree of Life appears on either side of the river. It bears twelve kinds or manners of fruit. Les admits he does not have the answer to why, but notes that fruit is for eating, and resurrected bodies will eat and enjoy the good things of food.
