What is hell like?
Hell is a place of eternal bodily torment, experienced with all senses and feelings forever. It is a horrendous place of judgment where those there realize they chose it and suffer constant regret, knowing they did not have to be there. God provides escape through the cross.
Les teaches that hell is a place of torment forever and ever, bodily, with all the senses and feelings. It is awful and horrendous, a place of judgment, and that is why many have quit talking about it—but Scripture still affirms it. He explains that those who go there will realize they made their choice for it, even if they seemed never to have heard, because God says they are without excuse. Their torment includes constant regret that they are there and did not have to be. Les points out that the door into the sheepfold is at ground level, right in front of every human being as they journey through life, so God is absolutely just and fair. He also reminds that God, through the finished work of the cross, has made it possible for every human being to escape it. He further comments that the idea of believers sitting in an amphitheater and looking on is a horror.
