What does being a member of the body of Christ require believers to do?
Membership in the body of Christ requires believers to get busy serving Him, since all members share a common goal. The body must respond to Christ, its Head, and believers should work not only for the body's good but also for reward.
Les explains that because believers are members of the body with a common goal, it behooves them to get out there, get busy, and serve Him, not only for the good of the body but also because we are to work for reward. He illustrates the body's function by comparing it to a physical body: all nerves respond to the head, and the body of Christ responds to Christ as Head. If a believer in China hurts, every believer around the world should hurt with him. He also connects this to husbands loving their wives as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for it, and to the body needing constant cleansing.
