Who are the people who become part of the body of Christ?
All genuine born-again people who believe the gospel become part of the body of Christ. The Holy Spirit places them into it at salvation, regardless of Jew or Gentile, bond or free, weak or strong, rich or poor, forming one worldwide congregation of believers.
Les explains that this baptism is not something any organization or denomination can administer; it is beyond them and is performed only by the invisible Almighty Spirit of God. It happens the moment a person believes the gospel, as one of the results of salvation. Immediately the Holy Spirit places the believer into the body of Christ, the whole worldwide congregation of genuine born-again people. Paul says all are placed into the body, whether Jew or Gentile, bond or free, weak or strong, rich or poor. Les illustrates this with entering a strange community or a living room full of young people and finding instant fellowship, because believers are never strangers very long. He notes this placement is an invisible act of God received by faith, not something we feel.
