Les Feldick Bible Study

What is faith according to this lesson?

According to this lesson, faith is believing—specifically, believing for salvation, since Scripture says without faith it is impossible. Faith is diligently seeking God, and He rewards those who do. It is one of the unalterable attributes that cannot be compromised.

Les explains that Hebrews 11:6 is one of two unalterable attributes—along with Hebrews 9:22, which says without the shedding of blood there is no remission. He defines faith as believing, saying, “Your salvation must believe.” This faith is not optional or compromiseable; it is the means by which salvation is received. He also notes that God rewards those who diligently seek Him. Les connects this to Paul’s constant reminder of the work of the cross: that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again.

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
