Are morally good people who never see their need of salvation safe from eternal doom?

No. Morally good people who never see their need of salvation are still headed for an eternal doom. They are in the same danger as the Mafia, the murderer, or the inhabitant of Skid Row, because they do not believe God has said they are sinners. Recognizing that must be the first step.

Les explains that being morally good does not make anyone safe, because people can be so good they never see their need of salvation and are headed for an eternal doom, just as much as the man in the Mafia or the murderer on Skid Row or Death Row. The root issue is that they do not believe God has said they are sinners, and recognizing that has to be the first step. Les then reviews the Genesis circles: Adam was created with body, soul, and spirit in fellowship with God; his soul—mind, will, and emotion—was in perfect agreement with the Creator. When Adam sinned, his whole personality became a sin nature bent to sinning, and communication with God became dormant, not annihilated; the spark was still there, but it was dead. Les compares this to leaving a car battery’s lights on overnight so that it is dead the next morning.
