What does 'regeneration' mean in the Bible passage about the apostles' thrones?
'Regeneration' means restoration to an original condition, like a dead battery being generated or made new again. In this passage it points to the future Kingdom when the curse is lifted and the earth is restored. Then the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, and the apostles also sit on twelve thrones ruling the twelve tribes.
Les teaches that many people slip over the word "regeneration" without really knowing what it means. He illustrates it with a dead car battery: to restore it to its original condition, you generate it, which is where the name generator comes from. In the same way, regeneration means the earth will one day be made like it was in the beginning, regenerated and restored. This refers to the Kingdom when the curse is lifted. At that time the Son of Man, the Christ, shall sit in the throne of His glory, and the twelve or eleven apostles also shall sit upon twelve thrones, ruling the twelve tribes. Les further notes that all of this written in the Gospels rests on the Abrahamic covenant, and he points back to Genesis 15, which he calls the chapter of Israel's title deed.
