What will happen to wild animals and human children during the millennial kingdom?
During this coming kingdom, ferocious, carnivorous animals will cohabit peacefully in the same pasture with lambs, goats, and human children. Children will be safe, even playing near poisonous serpents, because the curse's ravages will be gone and tranquility before sin will return. Human beings entering the kingdom will also reproduce.
Les explains that before Adam sinned, the animal kingdom ate only what grew naturally; permission to kill and eat meat came long after the curse, probably after the flood when Noah was instructed. In Isaiah chapter 11, Les says the whole animal kingdom, including the most ferocious, carnivorous, meat-eating species, will cohabit the same pasture with the lamb, the goat, and human children. Isaiah 11:8 adds that the nursing child shall play on the hole of the asp—a very poisonous serpent in the Middle East—and the weaned child shall put his hand on a cockatrice. Les notes three children are mentioned in just two verses, showing it is not a slip of the pen but the inspired Word of God. When this kingdom is set up, all the ravages of the curse will be gone, and it will revert to the beauty, glory, and tranquility that existed before sin entered. The little children prove that human beings will come into the front end of the kingdom and reproduce.
