When did Christ fulfill the prophecy of slaying the wicked with the breath of his lips?
According to Isaiah 11, Christ fulfills this prophecy at Armageddon, during the final hours of the Tribulation. There He slays the wicked with the rod of His mouth and the breath of His lips. This judgment occurs when the Messiah, the branch from Jesse, rules in righteousness at the close of that period.
Les teaches that Isaiah 11 opens with a rod coming forth out of the stem of Jesse and a branch growing from his roots. Jesse was David’s father, and Christ is the Son of David, so the branch is the Messiah, the Christ. The Spirit of the Lord rests upon Him—the Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and fear of the Lord. He does not rule by the sight of His eyes or reprove by the hearing of His ears; rather, He judges the poor with righteousness and reproves with equity for the meek of the earth. Les connects this to the Beatitudes, calling them the Constitution of the Kingdom. Then Isaiah says that with the rod of His mouth and the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked, which Les says Christ did at Armageddon and in the final hours of the Tribulation. Verse 5 adds that righteousness is the girdle of His loins and faithfulness the girdle of His reins.
But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
