What did the resurrected Jewish believers do after Jesus rose?
After Jesus rose, some Jewish believers were resurrected from cemeteries around Jerusalem, came into the city, and appeared to their friends and relatives. Because they were given immortality, they did not die again but were taken up into heaven as well.
Les explains that these Jewish believers did not come out of the grave while Christ was on the cross; they came out after He had been resurrected Himself, because Christ had to be the first to be resurrected. To fulfill the sheaf analogy, there had to be other examples of resurrection. So some Jewish believers were evidently resurrected from cemeteries around Jerusalem, came into the city, and appeared to probably their friends and relatives. Since Scripture is silent, Les assumes that because Christ in His resurrected body ascended into heaven, these saints did as well. They did not come like Lazarus to die again; they were resurrected believers given immortality and no doubt taken on up into heaven, making the sheaf of the first fruits, the beginning of the first resurrection.
