What was the year of Jubilee in God's law to Israel?

In God's law to Israel, the year of Jubilee was the fiftieth year—a year of new beginnings. All debts were cancelled, property reverted to its original owner, and prisoners were released. It was a recurring fiftieth-year observance, though Israel did not practice it.

Les explains that a Jubilee was 50 years, and every 50th year was called the year of Jubilee. According to God's law, when He first began to deal with the nation of Israel, the Jubilee was the year of new beginnings. In that year all debts were cancelled, all property reverted to the original owner, and many prisoners were released. Les notes that Israel, as far as he knows, never practiced it. He also mentions that Grant Jeffreys, in Armageddon and Appointment with Destiny, bases some figures on the Jubilee period in Israel's history, within the broader view that God's program from Genesis to Revelation seems set in a 7,000-year time frame.
