What is the first resurrection and the second resurrection in Revelation?
Revelation describes the first resurrection as the resurrection of life; the second resurrection is a resurrection under condemnation. Scripture indicates these do not occur simultaneously but in segments, each in their own order or lot, as Paul teaches in 1 Corinthians 15 and Daniel.
Les explains that Jesus spoke as if the two resurrections might happen simultaneously, but the rest of Scripture says no. There are segments of resurrection, each in its own time. Revelation identifies the first resurrection as the resurrection of life and the second as a resurrection under condemnation. Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:20 says Christ is risen and become the firstfruits of them that slept. Verses 21–22 say by man came death and by man the resurrection; as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. Verse 23 adds that every man is raised in his own order. Daniel would say in his own lot, the same idea, a military term of organization. The lost are also resurrected, but in their ordered time.
But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
