Why do the scavenger birds come after the great conflagration?

The scavenger birds come to eat the flesh of the gathered armies after the great conflagration, serving as a cleansing effect to prepare the earth for the soon appearance of the kingdom. They gather to the supper of the great God, feasting on kings, captains, mighty men, horses, and all men, as Old Testament prophecy describes.

Les explains that the fowls flying in the midst of heaven are the ordinary birds of the air, not birds in the throne room. When the great conflagration falls upon the assembled armies, especially in the Middle East, these vultures and scavenger birds are told to gather to the supper of the great God. They eat the flesh of kings, captains, mighty men, horses, riders, and all men, both free and bond, small and great. This feasting provides a cleansing effect, getting the earth ready for the soon appearance of the kingdom. Les notes that the Old Testament speaks of this very event, and he also mentions reports that a Middle Eastern scavenger bird has multiplied at nearly double its normal rate, though he treats such reports cautiously.
