Les Feldick Bible Study

In Zechariah 14, when does the LORD fight against the nations?

According to Zechariah 14:3, the LORD goes forth to fight against those nations when it looks like there is no hope—after the women are ravaged and half the city goes into captivity, while the rest are not cut off. He fights against the Gentile nations that have come to destroy Israel, as He fought in the day of battle.

Les explains that Zechariah 14 is still describing the Second Coming. He reads verse 1 about the women being ravaged, half the city going into captivity, and the rest not being cut off. Then in verse 3, when it looks like there is no hope, the LORD goes forth to fight against those nations—the Gentile nations that have come to destroy the nation of Israel. He will fight as He fought in the day of battle. This connects with Acts 1, where the same Jesus who left from the Mount of Olives will return to the Mount of Olives; He left head first and is coming back feet first.

Zechariah 14:3

Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
