Why does Christ make war in Revelation 19:11?
Revelation 19:11 presents Christ as Faithful and True, judging and making war in righteousness because the world’s military armies have gathered in the Middle East to annihilate Israel. They are placed in His wine vat, including 200 million from the East, and He pours out His wrath upon them as the sovereign God.
Les explains that Revelation 19:11 opens with heaven opened and a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True, with the capitalized title identifying Him as the Christ. He judges and makes war in righteousness. The reason is the kind of people in His wine vat: military forces. The armies of the world have come to the Middle East, supposedly to annihilate the nation of Israel, including the 200 million coming from the East. Millions will be packed into that small geographical area, not only Israel, because He begins at Edom, east of the Dead Sea. As He pours out His wrath on the congregated armies, He comes from the southeast of Jerusalem with destruction and then winds up through every valley of Israel where troops are packed like sardines. This is contrary to good military strategy, but the sovereign God has reaped the earth and placed them in His wine vat, yet it is in righteousness.
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
