Les Feldick Bible Study

Why are the judgments in Revelation poured out from bowls rather than another kind of container?

The bowl judgments are called vials because a bowl can be poured out instantaneously. A different kind of container would take longer to empty, so the bowl symbolizes the sudden, rapid consummation of God's final wrath in the last seven plagues.

Les teaches that the final seven judgments or plagues are called the vials, or in the King James, the bowl judgments. He explains the reason for bowls is that a bowl can be poured out instantaneously, whereas a different container would take longer. The context presents these as the consummation of the wrath of God, followed by a heavenly vision of the martyred tribulation saints who had gotten the victory over the beast, his image, his mark, and the number of his name.
