Why does Les say 1 Corinthians 1:8 is mind-boggling?
It is mind-boggling because the Corinthians, despite their many failures and weaknesses, would be confirmed by Christ to the end and stand before Him blameless if He returned—not shaking in their boots. Since they were not blameless in themselves, Paul says the only basis for this is grace.
Les teaches that 1 Corinthians 1:8 is mind-boggling because it promises Christ will confirm believers unto the end so they may be blameless. The Corinthians had failures and weaknesses, and if the Lord had come a day or two after they received this letter, humanly they might have stood before God shaking in their boots. But Paul says they would stand before Him blameless. Les points out they were not blameless in themselves, so the only basis for such a standing is grace.
Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
