Of what did Peter tell Israel to repent in Acts 3?
Peter told Israel to repent of rejecting, denying, and killing their Messiah, Jesus Christ. They had delivered Him up and denied Him before Pilate, crucifying the Prince of Life. Repentance was required because the nation had not yet been forgiven for that rejection and murder of their Messiah.
Les explains that in Acts 3 Peter is speaking specifically to the men of Israel. Peter recounts that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob glorified His Son Jesus, whom they delivered up and denied before Pilate, denying the Holy One and the Just One, and killing the Prince of Life. Then in verse 19 Peter's first word is "Repent." Les teaches that they were to repent of having rejected, killed, and murdered their Messiah. This was still on God's mind; the nation of Israel had not yet been forgiven for rejecting, killing, and crucifying their Messiah. Les is careful to note this does not excuse anti-Semitism, even though many religions have accused the Jew of being the God killers.
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
