What is at the heart of all disobedience?

At the heart of all disobedience is unbelief, which is the opposite of faith. As long as Israel had faith in God's Word, they were obedient; but when they did not believe what God said, all manner of sin came in, and unbelief gave the permissiveness to perform those things.

Les teaches that at the heart of all disobedience, even for you and I in the age of grace, is one Word: unbelief. Unbelief is the opposite of faith. As long as Israel had faith in God's Word, they were obedient, but as soon as they did not believe what God said, all of their sin came in over them. No matter what manner of sin it was, it was unbelief that gave them the permissiveness to perform all those things. Les points to Psalms 95, verse 7, where the psalmist writes, "For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today if you will hear His voice, harden not your heart, as in the provocation, as in the day of temptation in the wilderness." That is speaking of the 40 years.
