What happens to Israel after the opening judgments of the Tribulation?
God sends two witnesses to Israel in Jerusalem at the opening, and through their preaching 144,000 young Jewish men are sealed and commissioned to preach the gospel of the kingdom worldwide. Shortly afterward, the Antichrist appears, followed by war, famine, and pestilence; Israel realizes it is not the utopia expected, yet temple worship is still permitted. The midpoint then arrives.
Les explains that at the very same opening, God sends the two witnesses to the nation of Israel in the area of Jerusalem. He does not name them, because Scripture does not name them, though some call them Elijah and Moses or Elijah and Enoch. Out of the preaching of those two witnesses at the beginning, 144,000 young Jewish men are sealed and commissioned to go out and take the gospel of the kingdom around the world. That gospel is the good news that the King is coming; they are saved on the merit of the cross, but the message is that the King is coming. Shortly after, Revelation 6 shows the white horse, the Antichrist, then the red horse, which Les likes to think is the great Russian invasion from the north. That precipitates war, famine, disease, and pestilence depicted by the other three horsemen. Then Israel begins to realize they are not in the utopia they thought they were, but they are still permitted to have their temple worship. After the war, famine, and pestilence bring us to the very midpoint, another series of things takes place. One thing already covered is that the two witnesses who came on the scene, and by whose preaching the 144,000 go around the world preaching the gospel of the kingdom, are going to be put to death.
