What is left of the nation of Israel during the Tribulation?

During the Tribulation, all that remains of the nation of Israel is a remnant who fled from Jerusalem to the mountains, where God preserves them for three and a half years. When they see the returning Christ as King of Kings, this remnant will experience national salvation.

Les explains that after the Holocaust and Tribulation, the beauty of that kingdom will come in short order. He notes that the nation of Israel is all that's really left in the remnant who fled in the middle of the Tribulation. They fled from Jerusalem to the mountains, and God takes care of her there for three and a half years. When they see the returning Christ as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, that's when the nation of Israel will experience her salvation. She will suddenly realize who Jesus really was. This connects to the prophecy that as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children, and a nation is born at once.

Isaiah 66:8

Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
