Les Feldick Bible Study

Why is the middle of Daniel's seven-year week important for understanding the tribulation?

The middle of Daniel’s seven-year week divides that covenant period into two equal halves of three and a half years each. That midpoint is the basis for teaching about the tribulation, because Daniel by inspiration lays out the format that the seven years are split in half.

Les explains that in verse 27 the prophecy turns to the one week, the seven-year covenant that the Antichrist, the Prince that shall come, will confirm with Israel. The middle of that week is crucial because, as Les says, this is where we have to base everything on our teaching concerning the tribulation. Daniel, by inspiration, already laid out the format that this seven-year period is divided in half: first three and a half years, then last three and a half years. The first half may seem like a time of peace and prosperity, but Les warns it will be short-lived; the Antichrist will appear to keep his word for a little while, and Israel will again have her temple worship. The midpoint is the dividing line for the tribulation framework.
