What happens when people actually study the Bible?
When people actually study the Bible, they soon realize it is exciting, interesting, and not as closed a book as most people think. The purpose of teaching is to get people into the book, and nothing thrills more than hearing someone is studying for the first time.
Les teaches that the only reason they teach is to get people into the Book. He recalls a lady in a class, possibly at Macalester, who did not agree with him but promised to start studying her Bible. He says that is all he asks, because if people simply get into the book and study it, they will soon realize it is exciting, interesting, and not as closed a book as most people think. He also urges listeners to get their Bible and follow the references.
