According to Daniel 9:26-27, what will the coming prince do to the Jewish sacrifices in the middle of the seven-year covenant?

In the middle of the seven-year covenant, the coming prince will cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease. This occurs at the end of three and a half years, when the Antichrist enters the temple, turns against the Jews, sets himself up as God, and forces them to worship him instead of the God of the Old Testament.

Daniel 9:26-27 describes the prince that shall come making or confirming a covenant with many, with the Jews, for seven years, one week. In the middle of that week, at the end of three and a half years, he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease. Les explains that for temple worship to cease, it must first be going; you cannot stop something that is not operating. Therefore Israel will get her temple rebuilt and operating, with priests and utensils ready, even on display in Israel. At the midpoint, the Antichrist will go into the temple, suddenly turn on the Jew, set himself up as God, and force the Jew to worship him rather than the God of the Old Testament. Les also notes that this will not be a religion in which God is working, but much like Judaism during Christ's earthly ministry.

Daniel 9:26

And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

Daniel 9:27

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
