What did the pagan, idolatrous world do to the true people of God in the Old Testament?

In the Old Testament, the pagan, idolatrous world was always making life miserable for the true people of God. It continually opposed and oppressed them, causing ongoing trouble and hardship because they were the true people of God throughout that ancient era.

Les teaches that even way back in the Old Testament, the pagan, idolatrous world was always making life miserable for the true people of God. He notes this was not a one-time event, because even on this side of the cross, most of the world's conflicts have been precipitated by religionists trying to force somebody either out of their area or under their thumb. He cites Yugoslavia as an example, saying the conflict there is basically religious. He also warns that a great worldwide religious system is coming that will be satanic, not godly, headed by the one world religious leader identified as the false prophet and supported by the government of the Antichrist.
