How can a Universal Product Code become the 18-digit mark of the beast?

The mark is described as an 18-digit computer number made of three sets of six digits. The Universal Product Code already has outer and center bars valued at six. Expanding the UPC by a couple more lines would produce 18 digits, enough to assign every human a separate number.

Les teaches that the mark of the beast is nothing more than an 18-digit computer number, three sets of six numbers or six digits. He points to the universal product code, the little bars and lines on every product, especially in supermarkets. The outside left-hand and outside right-hand bars have a value of six, as does the center bar. Those sixes are not on boxes of cereal and so forth; some of the other numbers are, and you might see a two, three, or four. But unmarked, the outside left-hand and outside right-hand bar has a value of six, as does the center one. Les explains that all they have to do is expand this universal product code just a couple more lines, and you will have 18 digits. That is sufficient digits to give every human being on the face of the earth a separate number.
