What is the image of the beast in Revelation 13:14?
The image of the beast is an idol or likeness made to the Antichrist, described as the emperor of the revived Roman Empire. By miracles, the deceiver causes earth’s inhabitants to make this image, and the whole world will worship it, though it may be one image or several.
Les explains that Revelation 13:14 follows the earlier statement about power to give life to the image. He identifies the beast as the Antichrist, the emperor of the revived Roman Empire. The one deceiving those who dwell on the earth uses miracles to persuade them to make an image, a likeness to the beast. Les suggests it will be an image or an idol, and he is not sure whether it will be just one or several. The whole world is going to worship that image of the Antichrist.
And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
