Who makes up the unholy trinity (counterfeit trinity) during the tribulation?
The unholy or counterfeit trinity during the tribulation consists of Satan, who counterfeits God the Father; the Antichrist, who counterfeits God the Son; and the false prophet, the religious leader, who counterfeits the Holy Spirit, not so much in makeup but in operation.
Les explains that during the tribulation there will be an unholy trinity, a counterfeit trinity. Satan is the counterfeit of God the Father, the Antichrist is the counterfeit of God the Son, and the false prophet, the religious leader seen in verse 11, is the counterfeit of the Holy Spirit. This counterfeit is not so much in his makeup but in his operation. The false prophet is described as another beast, a man but also a system—not a political government but a religious system. The Antichrist is described as coming up out of the sea, while this second beast comes up out of the earth. Revelation deals primarily with the nation of Israel, God dealing with His covenant people in preparation for His return, though Gentile nations are affected, and Israel's seven-year treaty concerns the time factor.
And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
