How did the Roman empire treat the lower classes and conquered peoples?
The Roman empire showed no concern for the lower classes or for peoples it had overrun militarily. It threw conquered people to the lions and thought nothing of it. Despite some noble aspects, it became grossly immoral, morally deteriorated, wicked, and evil.
Les explains that Daniel’s fourth beast in Daniel 7:7 was the Roman empire, described as dreadful and terrible. He notes Rome was noble in some aspects but bestial in many others. It had no concern for the lower classes, nor for the people it had overrun militarily. It threw them to the lions and thought nothing of it. With all its pomp, success, and circumstance, it became grossly immoral. Les cites The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire as history authenticating that Rome deteriorated morally, having absolutely no moral compunctions left; they were wicked and evil.
