What happens to believers after they place their faith in Christ?
After hearing the word of truth—the gospel of salvation—and believing, believers are sealed and preserved with the Holy Spirit of promise. This sealing occurs after faith in Christ. Because they have partaken of God's salvation, they can escape the awful, terrible days coming on the earth rather than face those horrors.
Les teaches that Paul writes to the believer, and that after a person hears the word of truth—the gospel of your salvation—and believes, that person is sealed and preserved with the Holy Spirit of promise [s410-s419]. He also directs attention to 1 Corinthians 15 for the gospel's explicit definition [s420-s454]. In light of the awful, terrible days coming on the earth, Les explains that fear may prompt someone to seek God's saving grace to escape these things, though he does not embellish the fear concept. Scripture makes it plain that these days are coming, and one can escape by partaking of God's salvation rather than spurning so great a salvation and ending up in the horrors coming on the earth [s424-s446].
