What does the fire on Magog in Ezekiel mean?

The fire on Magog means God sends fire upon the homeland of Russia and the nations allied against Israel. It is a separate battle within the seven-year period, not Armageddon. Unlike Israel’s deliverance by pestilence, hail, and brimstone, this fire targets the Russian homeland itself.

Les teaches that some identify this as Armageddon, but he disagrees. He says it is not Armageddon but a separate war, a separate battle within the seven-year time frame. In Ezekiel 38:6, God says He will send fire on Magog and those who dwell carelessly. Les explains that this refers to the homeland of Russia and the homeland of all the accompanying nations that consorted against Israel. The language differs from the destruction of the army in Israel itself, where God uses pestilence, hail, and brimstone. Here, Les thinks God uses an outside force to destroy the Russian homeland. He admits this is speculation and cannot be proven from Scripture, but he offers it as a logical possibility and has never had anyone ridicule the concept.

Ezekiel 39:6

And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
