Who are Gog, Magog, Meshach, and Tubal in Ezekiel 38?

Most Bible scholars cited in the teaching identify Gog, Magog, Meshach, and Tubal as Russia and her satellite nations. In Ezekiel 38, the Lord tells the son of man to set his face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshach and Tubal, and prophesy against him.

Les teaches that the rider of the red horse represents the Russian invasion of Israel described in Ezekiel 38–39. He reads Ezekiel 38 where the word of the Lord came to the son of man: “Set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshach and Tubal, and prophesy against him.” Les explains that most Bible scholars he reads are convinced Gog, Magog, Meshach, and Tubal are Russia and her satellite nations. He warns his classes not to believe the Russian bear is dead; he says it is alive and well, though economically crimped, cold, and hungry. He notes Russia’s threats of mass famine have not come true, its army sits east of the Ural mountains intact, and it has not cut espionage staff.
