What will God do to the invading force in Ezekiel 39:2?

God will turn the invading force back and leave only a sixth part of it. He will cause it to come up from the north parts and bring it onto the mountains of Israel, where it will be utterly destroyed by His power.

Les explains that Ezekiel 38 and 39 tie together. The invading northern army is brought down into Israel, destroyed there, and then God says He will turn thee back, leave but the sixth part of thee, cause thee to come up from the north parts, and bring thee on the mountains of Israel. Verse 3 continues that God will smite the bow out of the left hand and cause the arrows to fall out of the right hand. This force is defeated not only by its own confusion but by the tremendous power of God, and it is utterly destroyed on the hills and mountains of Israel. Earlier, God also says He will plead against him with pestilence, blood, overflowing rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone, the same language as Sodom and Gomorrah, so that He will magnify and sanctify Himself and be known in the eyes of many nations.

Ezekiel 39:2

And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
