What agreement did Kohl and Gorbachev make about the East German Army and the Warsaw Pact?

Kohl and Gorbachev agreed that the East German Army would remain in the Warsaw Pact for at least another four years. This agreement, reported in a back-page news article, indicated that Gomer remained intact with the consortium of nations aligned with Russia.

Les explains that when things began falling apart, he wondered about Ezekiel 38. He found a news article, not on the front page, reporting that Helmut Kohl had met with Gorbachev, then Prime Minister of Russia. Even though communism was falling apart, they made an agreement that the East German Army would remain in the Warsaw Pact for at least four more years. Les says this showed Gomer was still intact with the consortium of nations with Russia. He notes that the four years still was not up, and he felt the Warsaw Pact military was still relatively intact and a viable military force. He also read that the Russian Army was east of the Ural Mountains, poised and ready to move whenever authorities tell it to move.
