Les explains that during the Cold War, allied leaders were deathly afraid of a great Russian invasion of Western Europe. A friend who was a consultant to the U.S. military stopped by on I-40 after a consulting tour of Western Europe, where the Red Army was facing Western forces in East Germany and elsewhere. He told Les the only recommendation he would make to authorities was that they had better get a neutron bomb ready and get it ready fast.
