Les Feldick Bible Study

How recently was Europe aware of the Russian threat on its eastern border?

Up until very recently, Europe was constantly aware of a great Russian horde positioned on its eastern borders. During the Cold War, allied leaders feared a Russian invasion of Western Europe, and a military consultant warned that massed Russian and East European troops could not be stopped without a neutron bomb.

Les explains that throughout the Cold War, allied leaders were deathly afraid of a great Russian invasion of Western Europe. He recalls a friend who was a consultant to the military and had just returned from Western Europe, where the Red Army faced NATO forces in East Germany. His only recommendation was to get a neutron bomb ready fast, because the mass of Russian and East European troops would be nothing but cannon fodder and could not be stopped otherwise. Les says that up until very recently Europe was constantly aware of that great Russian horde sitting on its eastern borders. Yet Scripture says that although the world has waited for them to invade westward to the Atlantic, God will turn them back.
