By what means did salvation come to the Gentiles according to Romans 11?
According to Romans 11, salvation came to the Gentiles by Israel's fall. When Israel was set aside, God turned to the Gentiles, so their fall became the means through which salvation reached the Gentiles. This is the plain statement Paul makes in Romans chapter 11.
Les explains that in Romans chapter 11 Paul plainly says Israel has not fallen out of God's program. They have merely gone into a period when God sets them aside and turns to the Gentiles. Paul states that by their fall salvation has come to the Gentiles. Les pictures this as a parenthesis: after Israel's dispersion in 70 A.D., history enters a period totally out of a time frame. Prophecy concerning Israel always operates within a time frame, such as the 490 years determined upon Israel, with 40 years here and there.
