What will happen to animals after the curse is lifted?
When the curse is lifted, all animals will cohabit peacefully, as described in Isaiah chapter 11: the wolf will lie down with the bear, and the lion and the ox will feed. The animal kingdom's present pain, suffering, fighting for existence, and starvation will end because the curse that brought these conditions will be removed.
Les explains that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now, and that believers also groan within themselves, waiting for the adoption, the redemption of the body, when they will be ushered into that glorious rule and reign. All creation is waiting for that day. He uses the cottontail rabbit as an illustration: it cannot relax because it is always aware of an enemy, and that inability to relax is because of the curse. But when the curse is lifted, all the animals, as seen in Isaiah chapter 11, will cohabit peacefully—the wolf will lie down with the bear, and the lion and the ox will feed. Currently the animal kingdom lives under pain and suffering, fighting for existence and sometimes starving for lack of food. That is not how God intended it; the curse brought it, but it is going to be lifted, and all creation is looking forward to that day.
The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
