How did the British Navy treat Jewish refugees fleeing Europe after the Holocaust?

After World War II, as Jews escaped Europe from the Holocaust, the British Navy patrolled the Mediterranean day and night to intercept boat people. Intercepted refugees were interned on Cyprus in refugee camps. The British fought them tooth and toenail, though a few reached Israel.

Les explains that the British fought the Jews tooth and toenail in the days after World War II, and very few people are aware of it. As Jews were escaping Europe from the Holocaust, the British Navy patrolled the Mediterranean Sea day and night, trying to intercept the boat people of that day—the Israelites or Jews coming out of Europe. When intercepted, they were interned on the island of Cyprus and literally put in refugee camps. The few who got through went into the land of Israel and began building the kibbutzes.
