How did the Hebrew language get revived?

The Hebrew language was dead for hundreds of years, but Zionists who anticipated returning to Palestine to make a Jewish homeland demanded that people again learn and speak Hebrew. Their requirement led to its revival, so today billboards and highway signs in Israel appear in Hebrew and English.

Les explains that the revival of Hebrew is another miracle alongside Israel’s survival. The language had been dead for hundreds and hundreds of years, and even the Jews did not speak Hebrew. But when Zionists first anticipated going back to the land of Palestine and making it a Jewish homeland, they demanded that people again learn and speak Hebrew. As a result, Hebrew was revived, and today in Israel all billboards and highway signs are in Hebrew and English.
