Where are the souls of dead believers right now before the resurrection?
The souls of dead believers are in paradise, in the presence of Christ, since His ascension. Their bodies remain buried around the planet, but their souls are with Him, waiting for the great resurrection day. At the resurrection, Christ will bring them to meet their resurrected bodies in the air.
Les explains that since the building of the Body of Christ, saints have been dying and buried in graves around the planet. Yet he distinguishes the grave from the soul’s location: since Christ ascended, the souls of departed believers have gone up to paradise and are in attendance in Christ’s presence. We do not know their state, but they are waiting for the great resurrection day. When the trumpet sounds and Christ leaves heaven, He will bring the souls of the departed with Him. They will then meet their resurrected bodies with Christ in the air, as part of the catching up together with the living saints.
