Why will the Church hear a trumpet at the rapture even though it is not Israel?
The Church will hear a trumpet at the rapture because God is sovereign and may use whatever He chooses. Although trumpets in Scripture announced gatherings for Israel, the Church is not Israel; nevertheless, God will sound a trumpet, and believers will hear it when the dead are raised incorruptible.
Les explains that the trumpet has always been used in Scripture to announce, even in Israel, where it gathered the people together. He acknowledges the Church is not Israel, but insists God is sovereign and can use whatever He wants. Therefore God will blow a trumpet, and the Church will hear it. At that last trump, the dead are raised incorruptible first, and those alive are changed in a split second, in the twinkling of an eye, receiving a new body before leaving this old frame of dust. Paul notes every man is raised in his own order, a military term of organization, like companies or divisions, so believers are resurrected in groups, not all at once, though close in proximity.
